I have been wearing so much black lately. Black is the new black for me. Generally, I don’t wear a lot of black. I tend to think it is predictable and can be boring at times. I own very few cocktail dresses in black for this reason. Everyone at a black tie or cocktail function is in black. Why not dare to be different?
But, black is the backbone of my street style these days. Perhaps it is because I got these awesome black patent boots for fall and I just can’t get enough of wearing them. Perhaps it is because I can throw on black leggings, a leather jacket and my fave boots and I am out the door and on the town.
It is great to have some strong black basics in your closet to mix and match with other things, or go black head to toe when the mood so strikes you. My black leggings and black leather jacket are two of those “go to” pieces for me. These leggings are knit and therefore have a substantial weight for fall and winter. They also have texture to them, which adds to their look of richness and substance. And warmth. And I believe a black leather jacket is a true staple that should really be in every woman’s closet. It is important to find the fit and style that work for you (I am small, so mine is fitted to the waist with little to no embellishment of any kind), but find one and keep it for a long time. Consider it an investment piece.
Here’s to being back in black! Xoxo. Me
