Color: It’s What’s for Winter

Who says your outfits can’t be full of color for winter? Even some non-traditional winter colors such as fuchsia pink?   Some of fashion’s biggest trends right now seem to be about breaking the rules, such as wearing white in winter (which is one of my favorite trends.  How does one wear white in winter without looking out of place, and well, just wrong?  The key is pieces with texture and weight to them.

The same philosophy is true of wearing bright colors in winter.  Texture is important.  The dress is these photos is a heavy weight and it looks like it.  Also, accessories are key.  Paired with the winter white velvet scarf and short suede boots, again, gives the outfit weight and texture and makes it clear that you know what season it is.

This is one of my favorite pieces from this season, found at Banana Republic. (last seen here www.bananarepublic.com)   I just love it, and it always makes me happier just putting it on.   I have worn it a few times to work, and I am always complimented on how cheerful I look.  It is also super comfortable.  And with pockets!!  I love when a dress has great pockets.

So pull out those pinks and bundle up!  The world needs a little more cheerful color these days!  Xoxo.  Me
